Travel SaaS brand, website and app design

Lumis

Overview

Leading destination management company (DMC) Pure Escapes have built a travel management SaaS to enable other DMCs to service their clients better, and grow quicker.

Travel agents work closely with DMCs to create itineraries for their customers and need fast, accurate information on hotel availability, pricing and specific services they offer such as transfers, meal plans and even what’s on the bar menu.

I was tasked via Vector with creating a new brand and website along with creative direction for the messaging and videos. The company were keen to work in a collaborative and lean way in order to meet a tight timeframe turning around the project in under 2 months.

Brand

Lumis’ ICP were travel agents who were passionate about the region they specialise, who wanted to grow, from solo agents to 200+ companies. They care deeply about their customers and are grappling with ever decreasing margins so speed and accuracy of the data they receive is paramount. We worked through several iterations of the branding and key messaging – leaning on the luxury travel attributes of the mother brand, building a visual connection and using the travel context to add colour to the messaging.

Website design and build

The website design adopted the conventional structure of a SaaS marketing website – home, pricing, features and resources all themed with the new Lumis brand.

Working within conventions doesn’t mean it will lack personality – I translated the vibrant brand and visual language to the website structure and content design – keeping the simple structure clean but with enough theming to convey the brand effectively.

Destination guides app

One of the most rewarding parts of the Lumis engagement was designing the proof of concept for the destination guides app – a B2B2C product allowing travel agents to provide curated experiences for their customers – providing itinerary details, hotel information, flight times as well as hand picked recommendations for eating out, places to see and nightlife as well. The pain points we wanted to solve were around timings and key information – designing an interface that provided key details as and when needed such as what time check-in is and if there is a kids menu at the restaurants were really important for the users. The brand and UI design needed to reflect the luxury end of the market the product was aimed at but also allow for the travel agent’s brand to have a presence in the interface.

Outcomes

I was able to deliver the brand, website design and build within the 3 month timeframe with a glowing review from the client. The destination guides proof of concept in development and will hopefully be helping agents and travelers very soon
